Push-to-Talk Setup

Configure your PTT key, audio device, and microphone settings.

How Push-to-Talk Works

LotusQ uses a push-to-talk model. Press and hold a key to record, release it to transcribe and insert text into your active application.

This approach gives you full control over when LotusQ listens. It never records in the background.

Default PTT Key

You can change this in Settings → Push-to-Talk Key. Any function key (F1–F12) or modifier combination works.

Command Mode Key

Hold F6 to activate Command Mode, speak editing instructions instead of dictation text.

Choosing Your Microphone

Go to Settings → Input Device to select your preferred microphone. LotusQ lists all available audio inputs.

💡 Tip: Use a dedicated microphone or headset for best results. Built-in laptop mics work but may pick up more background noise.

Audio Feedback

LotusQ plays beep tones to confirm PTT state:

  • High beep (880 Hz), recording started
  • Low beep (440 Hz), recording stopped
  • Double chirp, Command Mode activated

Adjust beep volume in Settings → Beep Volume.
