Getting Started with LotusQ
Install LotusQ and make your first dictation in under 2 minutes.
1. Download & Install
Head to the download page and grab the installer for your operating system.
- 1Download the installer for macOS, Windows, or Linux
- 2Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts
- 3Launch LotusQ from your Applications folder or Start menu
2. Sign In
When LotusQ opens, you'll be prompted to sign in. Use Google Sign-In for the fastest experience, or create an account with email and password.
๐ก A free account lets you use local transcription. Upgrade to Pro for cloud-powered transcription, AI formatting, and cross-device sync.
3. Your First Dictation
LotusQ uses a Push-to-Talk system. Press and hold the PTT key, speak, then release to insert text.
- 1Open any text field (email, document, code editor, chat)
- 2Press and hold F8 (default PTT key)
- 3Speak naturally, LotusQ will transcribe as you talk
- 4Release F8, your text appears in the active app
๐ก You'll hear a beep when recording starts and stops. The floating HUD pill shows your current state (recording โ processing โ done).
4. Choose Your Engine
LotusQ offers two transcription engines:
Cloud EnginePro
Fastest, most accurate. Requires internet. Includes AI formatting.
Local EngineFree
Works offline. Runs on your GPU/CPU. Raw transcription.
Switch engines in Settings โ ASR Engine or from the Models page.
