Cloud processing on demand
Audio is sent to our cloud ASR partners only while you dictate. The service returns text in real time and does not retain your recording after transcription.
No bundled model downloads
The desktop app uses a lightweight native client and cloud ASR infrastructure, so users do not need to download, manage, or update a transcription model locally.
Zero Audio Storage
We never store audio recordings, not on your device, not on our servers. Audio is processed in real-time and the buffer is immediately purged from memory once transcription is complete.
Tauri-Powered, No Hidden Network Calls
LotusQ is built on Tauri (Rust + native webview). Unlike Electron-based apps, it has no bundled Chromium and makes no background network calls you haven't opted into. What you see is what runs.
TLS 1.3 Encryption in Transit
When you opt into cloud features (Pro tier), all audio is transmitted over TLS 1.3 encrypted channels to our processing partners. Data is never stored by LotusQ after transcription is returned.

Detailed Privacy Policy
1. Information We Collect
We collect the minimum necessary to run the service: your email address (for authentication), subscription status, workspace data, and anonymous crash/error logs for debugging. We do not retain your audio recordings. Your personal dictionary and snippets may be stored locally on your device and, when sync is enabled, encrypted in our cloud database.
2. Audio Data & Transcription
Audio is streamed over TLS 1.3 to our cloud ASR partners solely for the purpose of transcription. Audio is processed in real time and is not retained by LotusQ or our processing partners after transcription is returned. We do not use your audio to train any models.
3. Auto-Learn Dictionary
LotusQ monitors text fields 7 seconds after dictation to detect corrections you make. This comparison happens entirely on your device. The field text is read via OS accessibility APIs (UI Automation on Windows, AXUIElement on macOS) locally. Corrections are saved to a local file on your device. When synced to the cloud (Pro tier), dictionary entries are encrypted in transit and at rest.
4. Data Retention
Account and workspace data is retained for as long as your account is active. Audio buffers are destroyed immediately upon transcription completion. Correction history and dictionary entries may be stored locally and synced to our cloud database when sync is enabled. You may request full account deletion at any time by emailing [email protected]. We will purge associated account data within 7 days.
5. Third-Party Services
We use a small number of carefully selected third-party services to run LotusQ. Our authentication and cloud database provider stores account credentials and encrypted dictionary/snippet data for Pro users. Our payment processor handles all billing. LotusQ never sees or stores your payment card details. Pro tier cloud transcription is handled by reputable ASR providers under strict data processing agreements; audio is sent solely for transcription and is not retained or used for training.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold. You can export your dictionary and snippets at any time from the app. To request account deletion or a data export, contact [email protected]. We will respond within 7 days.
7. Children's Privacy
LotusQ is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
